Riding the Segway
I first heard about the Segway “Magical History Tours” a few years ago. Seemed like a pretty neat idea to me. Maybe a little steep at $80, but really what you’re paying for is more the Segway riding and not so much the history tour, right?
Shannon Keough of the Whittier Globe took the tour and her account is up at Twin Cities Daily Planet. She was less than impressed.
It kind of sounds like you’d be so busy trying to keep from running into something or falling off that you’d hardly have time to take in the sights around you. I agree, you’d be better off on a bike, reading the signs along the river yourself.
But $80 for a couple hours on a Segway might not be so bad. I’d do it so I can say I’ve done it.

Funny you brought this up! Exactly a year ago tomorrow, the Star Tribune advertised an Independence Day Parade at St. Anthony Main, so approximately 200 of us fools showed up (many many kids, too) to see the parade. These long lines of Segways kept coming up and down the street, so everyone just assumed they were lining up to be in the parade. Nope. An angry dad ran down the street yelling the STRIB had a misprint, and the parade was cancelled. So I walked down and checked out the price. $80 is WAY too steep for me, but sure looked fun!
Segway riders in the wild! This picture cracks me up.
