An Open Letter
Dear driver of the Lexus RX330 in the parking lot at Eden Prairie Center,
When parking spaces are situated on a diagonal, such that traffic down each aisle only goes one way, your desire to pull forward out of your parking spot does not make it faster or easier to get out. You knew when you pulled through that you’d either have to go the wrong way down the aisle or make a hard left turn. Considering your initial glaring error, I do commend you for choosing to make the hard turn instead of going the wrong way. Fortunately you did not come in contact with any of the parked cars surrounding you. Surely you would have found it to be their fault in some way. Dumbass.

Slow down or stop, if necessary. Give the right of way to all other vehicles and pedestrians, and wait until it is safe to proceed.

Okay, anonymous. At least address your comment to the correct post.
Most of the time, I’ve got no problem slowing down or stopping at the bottom of that ramp. Except that if I stop the car and wait until traffic is clear for me to proceed during rush hour, I’ll be sitting at the bottom of that ramp for an hour and causing a worse backup behind me, especially now that there’s construction on Hwy 7.
I do slow down, I do give way to other vehicles, and I do merge when it’s safe. I go straight ahead off the ramp and only get over where there’s room. Folks make space. Cars already in the right lane at that interchange aren’t usually going very fast anyway.
It’s like how car accidents are more often due to speed differential than absolute speed. It just makes more sense to not stop.
Not that I feel a need to defend my actions.
