Flaming Film Festival Ignites!
The Flaming Film Festival launches tomorrow night at 7pm, for a seven day festival celebrating GLBTQ(RS and whatever other letters you want to mix in) film. Lisa Ganser, the festival director, spoke to Minnesota Women’s Press about the festival, talking about it having a bit more mainstream content, with the more traditional LGBT Festival being off the calendar for the forseeable future. There’s still going to be plenty of alternative stuff available, as well as several explicit screenings, for the 18+ crowd.
Screenings are at the Suburban World Theater, the Bryant-Lake Bowl, District 202, and the Bedlam Theater, with tickets being 7 dollars per show. There are many shorts showcases throughout.
Let’s show the TC “Film Establishment” that there is an audience for GLBT film, and the “low attendance” that they cited for not having the traditional festival maybe wasn’t to do with a lack of interest in the local community as much as things like inadequate marketing. Al Milgrom has been quoted as saying that MFA had a “lack of internal connections to the [LGBT] community.”
