Dang Erin you are right I totally forgot that this puritian state doesn't let you sell booze and food at the same time(or on Sundays). I just moved into the state and that just ticks me off everytime I go to the store. So will TJ even sell wine? Will they have a seperate store for it.

What is up with being able to drive to the bar and get drunk on Sunday and then drive home with your baby in the back. But you can't go to TJ's on Sunday get some cheap wine and food and then go home and enjoy it in the safety and comfort of your own home.

While recently visiting the Trader Joe's in Alexandria, VA, the cashier noticed my MN t-shirt and mentioned the store opening in SLP, so even the employees down in VA know about the opening.

in other states with liquor laws requiring alcohol sold seperately from food, they just don't sell alcohol

For real? SUCK! I've heard that there may be some talk in the legislature about the ridiculous liquor laws here, but there's no telling how it will turn out (or how soon any changes might be made).

Thank god for TJ's!

Okay I'm a Pasadena, CA transplant and while home last week they told me it'd be three months, they were just sending their reps out here later in the week.

And I highly doubt we'll get Two buck Chuck- in other states with liquor laws requiring alcohol sold seperately from food, they just don't sell alcohol.

The reason two buck chuck is two bucks in California is because the winery is not far away. By the time you load it on a truck and ship it out to the northern midwest it becomes 3 or 5 buck chuck.

I wouldn't say I'm particularly excited about it, but I am hella curious. Although I have been in a TJ's once before.

Nate, I thought of you and your dislike of Yellowtail the other day when I went into a liquor store where "4 Emus" (which I've never seen before) was prominently displayed.

The big pull to that store seems to be the wine shop. That scares me. I work at World Market and our wine shops are just starting to get widely recognized. Besides, Two Buck Chuck isn't all that great. And it will be more than two bucks by the time it gets sent here, I can assure you.

I remain unreasonably excited at the notion of a Trader Joe's in the area.

I've heard my cousin in St. Louis, MO talk so much about this damn store that I'm bound to be first in line for some Two Buck Chuck when it finally opens.
