PSA - Bands for Band
Support Anne Sullivan Communication Center’s band program at “Bands for Band,” seven hours of music from some of the region’s top musical performers. The benefit is Sat., Feb. 11, from 2 - 9 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 2507 - 25th St. E., Minneapolis. There will be dancing, food, raffle prizes, and a wide variety of music styles including: New Orleans funk, folk, Caribbean salsa, R&B, honky tonk blues, swamp boogie and electronic pop.
Band was discontinued at Anne Sullivan almost two years ago due to budget cuts. During this time parents, students and faculty have longed for a way to bring band back to the kids. Thanks to volunteers and administrators, and to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation’s donation of up to $25,000 in refurbished instruments, band will begin for 5th and 6th graders again this month. In order for the band program to continue, parents have initiated a three-year campaign to make band a full-time program for students in grades 4-8. To sustain band for the remainder of
the year, $15,000 must be raised, $40,000 next year and $80,000 in 2008.
Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event and parking is free. Ticket prices are $10 adult, and $5 for kids age 6 and over. For a complete listing of bands, contact Lori Gleason at (612) 371-1212. If you have any questions, please contact Anne Sullivan Communication Center at (612) 668-5000. Donations can be sent to: ASCC PTA Band in care of Anne Sullivan School.
