Riverview Showing of Lord of the Rings

To follow up on Erica’s post about the Riv showing LOTR:

The Riverview Theater is pleased to announce a presentation of the Lord of the Rings trilogy on Monday, January 2, 2006. The schedule is as follows:

The Fellowship of the Ring 11am - 2:00pm
The Two Towers 2:45 - 6:05pm
The Return of the King 7:00 - 10:00pm

Doors will open at 10am.
Tickets are $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Admission to an individual film will be $3. There is no advance ticketing for individual films.

More details below:

Advance tickets will be available at the Riverview box office beginning Wednesday, December 14. The box office is open beginning around 5pm on weekdays and 12:30 on weekends. Sorry, but we’re not able to do internet ticketing or take orders by phone. Payment must be made in cash. There is an ATM in the lobby.

Our concessions menu consists of popcorn, candy, nachos, soft drinks, waters, tea and coffee. For this event we will also be serving hot dogs and pizza by the slice. We also expect to have a breakfast menu consisting of bagels and muffins. As is our normal policy, outside food and beverages may not be brought into the theater.

On-street parking is available. Because the Fairview clinic will be open on January 2, parking will be unavailable in its lot until after business hours.

We encourage people to come in costumes and there will be a costume contest. However, please be aware that space is limited and there will not be extra seats to put things on.

There have been several inquiries regarding a “swap meet.” If you have items you would like to trade, there will be time between the films to do so.

There has also been an interest in activities such as video game demonstrations/competition between the films. If you would like to pursue this, let us know.

It has come to our attention that the Oak Street Cinema is also presenting the Lord of the Rings for a series of days during the holiday season. If you have schedule conflicts or would like to see the series over several days, you may wish to consider screenings there. For schedule information, go to:

We are looking forward to hosting a memorable event. We appreciate all of your suggestions. Feel free to continue providing input.
