Yet another reason to get out of the midwest….

Moving in the winter sucks.

I’ve got no problems with it as far as my schedule and commitments and whatnot go. It’s the actual moving of the stuff that sucks. And movers are not cheap.

So, yeah, I just moved last week. Into Uptown. Or Lowry Hill East. Or the Wedge. Whatever we’re calling it these days.

It actually didn’t go that badly. I gave away a lot of stuff and threw away a lot of stuff. Things that I’ve been telling myself I should do before the last several moves that never actually got done. And I hijacked my girlfriend’s movers to carry my furniture. So I didn’t even have to do the worst of it myself. It wasn’t all that cold, and there was only a little snow on the ground.

But still. I don’t want to do that again anytime soon.

I moved into my current place on 30 January 2004. The coldest day of that year. I think it was 30 below that day. I rented a truck and had about 12 people helping. Then, we unloaded the truck and used it to move my friend Jon (Nate’s roommate’s brother) from one apartment to another. All before five pm. We were nuts.
