First Blood

So, it has begun. Winter in Minnesota. Last night when I returned home, I took a moment to catch the little wet snowflakes on my tongue.

This morning, I’m not quite so chipper. My snow brush/scraper was in my trunk, my car doors frozen shut and my windshield wipers in need of replacement. Thank goodness for rear window defrosters.

The roads were a bit slick here and there, but there didn’t seem to be any major wipeouts on my morning commute. It’s horribly windy, however, with a wind chill of -4o. Couldn’t we had more than a day to get used to the bitter cold?

Ugh. God. It’s awful. The cold I don’t mind. And what happened to the huge storm we were expecting? I mean, I’m fine that we didn’t get it.

But the wind. Lawdy, the wind! I could do without the wind. I went out for a run and it was hellacious.

When I spend enough time outside in weather like this, my teeth start to get incredibly cold. It feels like my jaw is slowly freezing.
