Blimp 9 News is unrelenting
Last night the Blimp 9 News continued their non-newsworthy assault on the MN Gopher Hockey Team. I was glad to see the coach pushing back, even it the story had a decidedly Fox News spin:
Fox 9 News has taken a week’s worth of criticism over our investigation into underage drinking by some University of Minnesota hockey players. If you listened to radio talk shows, read the papers or saw our own inbox fill up, NOTE: THEY FORGOT BLOGS!, you’d hear over and over that underage hockey players drink, that our investigators made too much of it, and it’s no big deal. Now, for the first time, head coach Don Lucia goes on-camera with the Fox 9 Investigators to address the story…
Lucia gave some great quotes like, “If anybody wants to go undercover and follow college kids around, you can find anything you want. You could do it tomorrow. You could do it in two months. You could do it in two years. They’re college kids. I have to be honest, I thought they were violated in that report.

I loved the “Urine Bombs” piece, how they billed it up as something horribly dangerous (i.e. Chemicals being dumped on the side of the road, or flammable leftovers from drug manufacturing).
“What you find on the sides of most MN highways can EXPLODE”.
The interviews of truckers at truck stops was great:
BLIMP9: Do you know the dangers posed by this??
TRUCKER: (Suppressing smile) Maam, I wouldn’t pee in a bottle.
OTHERTRUCKER: Sometimes ya just gotta go.
I do feel for the poor MNDOT grass cutter who gets a faceful of some truckers pee, but I think it’s horribly funny nonetheless!!! :)
I wish I had seen the Traffic Light Timing piece, it really sounded like some hard-hitting journalism in their promos!
OMG, I can’t handle the news. I was tricked - tricked! - into watching KSTP on Sunday night. I wanted to hear about the teenybopper riot at Brookdale Mall and the “superstar” that died in a downtown hotel over the weekend. Should have known better.
I saw this follow up story after going to the game on Saturday. I think it was probably a good idea to run a follow-up story, but I expected it to include some sort of an apology. At the game, one section had a huge banner that said “Fox 9 is a Sieve”. On about three different occasions a cheer was started: “Fox 9 Sucks”. I thought it was hilarious and found it fun to participate.
Fox 9 is a Sieve
Bwahaha!
