Protesting Children

As in “children who are protesting,” not “protesting of children.”

Yesterday I was heading west on 394 from downtown and exited at Penn Ave. At the top of the ramp (and also on the other side at the entrance/exit to eastbound 394), there were a bunch of high-school-age-looking kids running around holding up anti-war signs. And they were actually running. I was afraid someone was gonna get hit. I think they were just trying to catch each car as it went by.

It was about 2:00, so I don’t know if they were done with school for the day or if this was a school-related activity, or what the deal was. I know there was some protest-related stuff going on on campus at the University of Minnesota, but last I checked, 394 & Penn doesn’t exactly qualify as “on campus.”

So maybe these were kids that couldn’t get excused from school but wanted to do their part anyway. Or something.

In any case, good for them.
