The Amazing Case
From The Onion’s events newsletter, there’s this:
Summit Brewing & LocalHipster.com are proud to present:
“The Amazing Case”
Saturday, Nov. 5, 2-10 p.m.
Summit Brewing Company and LocalHipster.com have teamed up to bring you “The Amazing Case,” an exciting new event that is soon to make Minnesota history.
A cross between the CBS-TV show “The Amazing Race,” beer trivia and a fun pub crawl, this is sure to be an event to look forward to year after year.
Teams will follow clues around a portion of Northeast Minneapolis, drinking beers based on hints provided and competing to get to the mystery destination with the most cumulative points. The winning team will be awarded a three-month supply of beer from Summit Brewing Company, a private brewery tour, and the coveted and prestigious “Case Champions Trophy.”
All teams get to enjoy a FREE Summit party with live music and prize giveaways at the end.
Registration is already full. If you could still get in, you’d get free beer for the day, a t-shirt, and the opening and closing parties with live music for your $25. The top prize is an “employee supply” of Summit for 3 months, a private brewery tour, and a trophy.
Might be fun to park yourself at one of the participating locations. Or maybe just pick a bar in northeast and hope you see some teams. Because I guess if everyone knew the participating locations ahead of time it would take some of the fun out of it.
I’m betting they’re going to do it again next year. It looks like it’s going to be awesome. Hell, it’d be fun to do an event like this even without all the huge prizes and corporate backing. Do one in Uptown, or St. Paul.
