decaffeinated

I was walking in the Uptown area this week, along Hennepin Avenue and if I’m not mistaken, it looked like Pandora’s coffeeshop was closed. All the windows were covered with newspaper, and there was a plastic bag over the sign out front. Anyone know anything about it? I think I only went there once, as I’m more often at Vera’s or Spyhouse, but hey, I’m always a fan of independently owned coffeeshops. Anything to keep there from being one more Starbucks in a neighbourhood.

Long ago rumors existed that they were going to close and reopen as a wine bar (stupid) and try to broaden their horizons. Who knows, maybe they’re just dumb enough to try and compete. I feel it’s slightly out of their target demographic, but then again I am not brave/naive enough to try to run an independent coffee house/wine bar in a metro area more overrun with both than any city I’ve seen.

Thats just what happened. They are know called Duplex restuarant and they serve lunch and dinner fare as well as serving as a wine bar.

wow. I might be tempted to actually go there again. I’d always thought there were far from the mark as a decent coffee joint.

I can’t say I was a fan of Pandora’s before. Mostly because the usual crowd is not really my type of crowd. That and the way they doled out the WEP key for internet access a measly hour at a time.

Although it was welcome respite one Sunday night when it was the only coffee shop anywhere nearby that was open past 10:00 and relatively non-smoky and quiet.

Wine bar, eh? Maybe I’ll check it out some day….
