c’mon ride the train

Every time I go someplace with a Metro or subway system, I realise more and more that not on could the TC have a system like that, but we really need a system like that. Forget about our dinky little light rail. Yesterday, I went to Lyon, France. I’m not sure how big Lyon is compared to Minneapolis or the whole TC, but its metro was so simple, so easy to use and went all over. I think there were four or five major lines, that connected with the above ground tram system (which were mostly electric busses). I can’t figure out why a metro area the size and population of the TC hasn’t put together the infrastructure for better mass transit. We’re so forward thinking in so many ways, and so backwards in so many others.

Word. Funny thing is…we *had* better mass transit. You’ve just inspired my next post.

My theory is that the Twin Cities suffers from an identity crisis. It still wants to behave like a small town, but has the population of a large city.
