Cabin Traffic - when will it end?
Another newbie metroblogger here. I’ve actually been reading and replying to the blog here for over almost a year, and am extremely excited to have the opportunity to add to the conversation. I live in downtown St. Paul and am an avid concert-goer across the entire metro.
Spent the weekend up in Duluth and Madeline Island, WI arguing with my extended family about whether the changing of leaf colors deserves a special Sunday drive and ran into horrendous “cabin traffic” coming back into the cities. For you long-term residents, when exactly does the cabin traffic rush start to wane as we enter fall?
In other news, have any of you had a chance to check out the “Music in Mears” concert series in downtown St. Paul’s Mears Park each Thursday. The series (sponsored by “The Current” and St. Paul After Hours) wrapped up this Thursday with the best group thus far, “Epic Hero”.
Any of you check any of the concerts out? Believe me, not much goes on in downtown St. Paul, so we definitely took advantage and hope they bring it back next year!

Hiya, Greg! I recall you’ve commented on a few of my posts along the way. Good to have you aboard!
I used to live in the Cosmo apts next to Mears Park. While I love being back in South Minneapolis, there are times I miss Lowertown… like being able to walk to the Farmer’s Market.
Cabin traffic. Oy. I run into it when I’m trying to take weekend rides on my motorcycle. As far as I can tell, it stops only once there’s either A) hard frost in the North Woods or B) snowfall.
Welcome, Greg. :)
