Breast Cancer 3-Day
I’m getting this in just under the wire today to complete the Minneapolis bloggers’ attempt to have all of us post in one day! w00t! Gimme a break, though. I work second shift.
This is in the far, far off future–next year, in fact–but today, my sister and I registered for the 2006 Twin Cities’ Breast Cancer 3-Day walk. We participated in the 2004 walk and, unfortunately, had to miss the 2005 one this last June, so I’m very excited to be able to participate again…next year. The walk takes place August 18th through the 20th and raises money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which focuses on breast cancer research and community-based outreach programs. If you or anyone you know has suffered with this disease, I encourage you to think about participating in this walk. It’s a lot of miles and a lot of money, but it is so totally worth it. Even if you don’t know anyone directly affected by breast cancer, it feels good to raise money for something worthwhile. Plus, exercise, and lots of it!
So the training and fund-raising begins in earnest, starting now, and I’m really looking forward to doing some training walks around my neighborhood and discovering things that are within “walking distance” of my apartment, since my “walking distance” has now increased to at least 10 miles on occasion, so I will have a lot to explore in the coming months.
