Stuff to do in Stillwater

My girlfriend and I are going to take a mini vacation and go spend a night in Stillwater next weekend. I’ve never been there. We’re staying at the Water Street Inn.

When I think of Stillwater, I think of antique shops. I know there’s other stuff to do there, and I’m sure my girlfriend has something in mind, but I’d like an idea of what to expect. Anybody have any suggestions? Places to eat? Must-sees? We might take our bikes with us.

(BTW, we’re po’, if that influences your suggestions.)

We were there this weekend. If you’re going to hit the antique shops, I recommend waiting until the end of the day when the tourists leave. Midtown Antiques Mall is open until 8 p.m., so hit it last (plus check out the sweet Sally Struthers autograph! - http://www.flickr.com/photos/37708267@N00/44530244/). Then I’d recommend touring some of the open houses on Sunday in the huge mansions under the guise that your parents are wealthy and looking to relocate. ha!

Whenever I think of Stillwater I think of the movie Almost Famous. The band in that was named Stillwater and so every time I drive to Stillwater I sing “Fever Dog…”

I sobered up in Stillwater. I also go to Ball’s Cabaret. Rock on!
