Here is a list of things for our wonderful metroblogger, Erica’s friends to see while they are in town.

ComedySportz
- This is a great improv comedy show in Calhoun Square in Uptown. If you have seen “Whose Line is it Anyway?” on TV, then you will be sort of familiar with it. It is great, family friendly comedy for only twelve bucks!! Don’t worry, just because it’s family friendly it is a blast for everyone. They toe the line just like the TV show. They just came first. If you want to go this Friday, yours truly will be playing :)

Herkimer - This is great little bar on Lyn and Lake. They make all of there own beer and it is all very tasty. They have a shuffleboard, jukebox, and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Some good eats, too.

The Mall of America - Before boos, moans, and growls overtake this post, remember that it is kind of cool to see a mall like this if you are from out of town. For most of us here, it has become a place to avoid. But as a tourist, it is kind of cool to see a rather large indoor amusement park and a sea of shopping. At least drop them off for a few hours and let them run free.

The Walker Art Center/Minneapolis Institute of Art - These two museums have been making headlines around the country and even the world for quite some time. These are two places that make this city a cultural hub in the Midwest. It would be a shame to miss them.

Chino Latino/Figlio’s/Sushi Tango/Fuji-ya - A few of my favorite Uptown hangouts. Most of them are too expensive to visit often, but all have great food and drinks. Some of them are always packed, but good times have been had at all locations.

Bar.Fly - A great posh downtown dance club. Good music, great drinks, interesting mix of people. It is slick.

The Saloon - A fun little gay bar in downtown. Dance the night away in the main room, watch videos and dance in the video bar, or watch guys dance in the shower. Much dancing can be had. Plus, gay bars always make the strongest drinks for the least amount of money.

Those are just few of the things to check out. I could go on, but I would never stop. Hope your friends have a great time!!

Bar Fly is terrible! It’s just a straight meat market with overpriced drinks and a lame dancefloor.

I haven’t been there in a few months so maybe things have changed. But the drinks were the same as every other dance club in town when I was there. Plus, EVERY club is a straight up meat market. Unfortunately, that’s why most dumb guys go out to dance. All they have is one idea.

As far as the music, when I was there they played some fun pop music and also some good thumpin’ underground stuff. Like I said it could have changed…

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the info and recommendations! I’m from England but am visiting Minneapolis in two weeks time - will definitely check out the Mall of America (which I’m sure will put our tiny Brit mall’s to shame) and some of the bars (maybe The Saloon?)
    Thanks again !
