First black helicopters, now this?

There’s a grey Metro Transit bus driving around Minneapolis. It’s completely grey, including the windows, and the bike rack on front. No advertising. No markings. I’m sure it’s part of a two-step advertising campaign, kind of like the billboards that said “Ugly kids” with a picture of some funny looking kids on it and then a week or so later, it turned out to be an advertisement for KDWB DJs.

It looks weird, though, to see this matte grey bus driving around. There’s just something….odd about it. Gives me the willies.

Now, I see them as a blue, not grey. Anyway, I was thinking about how damn hard they would be see in the fog.

I see grey. :) Primer grey. (It’s clearly one of the stick-on advertisement wrappers they use, but it’s definitely “primer grey”.

I get a little wiggy seeing it too. Almost a Mad Max vibe. It just needs a little rust and some armor plating welded over the windows.

I just heard on the radio that the buses are “silver” and the paint job is sponsored by the state lottery. It’s supposed to resemble an unscratched scratch game, and supposedly if you get on the silver bus, your ride is free.

The shade of grey you see the van as is influenced by its reflection of the colors in the vicinity.

    From the SPPP today:
Feeling lucky? Head to your nearest bus stop today.
Eight Metro Transit buses, painted silver, will be circulating on regular routes and anyone who boards them will ride for free. The free rides are sponsored by the Minnesota State Lottery and its scratch games.
The buses were painted silver to look like the silver material players scratch off on lottery tickets. Today, that silver will be scratched off to show people scuba diving, boxing, playing badminton or walking on the moon, all part of the lottery’s new campaign theme, “Surprise is Good.”
The free rides end around midnight.
