A Governor Passes
Former governor Elmer L. Andersen died today, aged 95. He was a true Minnesota classic, a wonderful politician, and a man who left his mark on the state on countless ways. He was also an old-school Republican who was not a fan of the new breed controlling the party today. On the other hand, he frequently wasn’t a fan of the other Republicans in his own day either, and that independent streak helped defeat him after only one term in office.
