Rock it

I got in line before work today at my new polling place, and waited an hour and a half. As I was leaving, I saw my boss about forty-five minutes behind me in line, so I told him I was going to be late to work. He laughed, and said yeah, so was he. All in all, it went well, but only because I live in Minnesota where we have voter registration on the day of the election. I moved into my new place back in January, and got my license changed and renewed in April when it expired. That same day in April, I filled out the voter registration card included on the license renewal application. Today at the polls, I wasn’t listed on the rolls for my precinct. I had brought my current license, so I just had to re-register, but come on, people. I registered in April! I’ve heard later that the DMV registrations were so far behind many people didn’t get registered. We’ve been doing this for over 200 years, and now we have computers to make things simpler, and we still can’t figure it out?

I have to say my voting day went very smooth. I was in and out in under five minutes. I had even brought a book because I was scared of the line. I guess maybe the people in my neighborhood just have there crap together :)
